MK413 Seminar in Marketing Field Trip at Siam Paragon

On May 19th the class of MK413, Seminar in Marketing, went on a field trip to learn about ?Marketing in Fashion? at Siam Paragon. We were very honored to have Khun Winny Sangsuwan, the current visual merchandiser for Siam Paragon and the stylish who had over 20 years of experience in the fashion field, as our guest speaker.

The first few hours included touring around the women?s and men?s clothing galleries to observe and learn how the clothes were displayed, how the lighting was used for each section, and what the current fashion trends are. Khun Winny mentioned that visual merchandising is the backbone of the retail industry because these visuals are the psychological triggers that first attract customers to purchase the products. Not only did we learn about visual merchandising, but also about the matching technique of the clothes? colors-and-styles with correspondence to the ?color trend?, a color guideline chart.

The session ended with examples and tips on how to dress appropriately while being fashionable to different occasions such as at work, at a meeting, or even at an after party. After the session, we will all now be able to adapt our outfits in the closet to the fashion world.

Before we left, Khun Winny left behind a key takeaway, ?Fashion and marketing go together; they will always surround you. Open your minds, look at those details, and utilize them.?

The entire class of MK413 genuinely enjoyed the field trip and the techniques taught by the guru Khun Winny. This valuable learning experience wouldn?t be possible without Ajarn Kritsadarat, the class?s professor and the support from the BBA program.
