As university students, we all have developed our own career goal. Some of us have already known what we want to be ? what career we want to pursue in the future. Those in accounting major aim to be auditors while those in finance major may plan to apply for jobs in financial institutions. We all have different dreams. However, the career opportunities available for us as business students from BBA Thammasat are not limited to those typical business jobs. Nowadays, many new jobs that require business knowledge have evolved. BBA Thammasat has organized BBA Career Exposition 2015 in order to open up an opportunity for us to meet with company representatives from several renowned companies in the Accounting, Consulting, Finance and Marketing.
Today, Friday 28, 2015, it was the Career Exposition Day for Consulting Career. BBA invited altogether 5 leading consulting companies: McKinsey & Company, Bain & Company Thailand, Bridge Consulting, Hay Group, and The Boston Consulting Group. They are the well known and the experts in the consulting field both locally and internationally. Each of the participating company gave around 30-minute presentation about the company itself and the opportunities available for internship and full-time. We now learned that consulting company does not focus only on financial perspective; it covers various industries and practices as well as provides comprehensive services ranging from financial, operational, IT and technology to media and entertainment. However, each firm has their own style of practice. Some consulting firms may have certain specialization. Moreover, the company representatives also shared about qualifications that they are look for in the applicants. They are looking for a new graduate who has strong problem solving skills, strong commitment, and ambitious to learn new things and work in a very diverse environment. Furthermore, P? P? BBA alumni shared us their stories about work experience and what they feel about consulting which seemed to be very interesting and challenging.
After that we joined a networking session, which gave us a great opportunity to meet with company representatives, recruiters and our BBA alumni who are currently working in this field to explore more about consulting career. I think this Career Exposition Day is very valuable for all of us - BBA students regardless of what year we are in. We have learned more about consulting especially first-year and second-year students who may know only little consulting. We now know what consulting people do so we can evaluate ourselves whether consulting career is the right one for us. For third-year and fourth-year students like me, today session is very important as I learned about opportunities available and how to prepare myself in order to grab those opportunities in the future. Lastly, I would like to thank BBA Thammasat for organizing such meaningful event. I believe all of us have learned something from the session. It will definitely help us making the right choice in the future. I really appreciate it.
