On Tuesday February 25th, we had an out-of-classroom lesson at Thailand?s Japan town (Promphong, Sukhumvit). The goals of this activity were to observe and learn the Japanese cultures in various dimensions such as their hobbies, clothing & homemaking and most importantly, the eating culture. As a marketer, we could see that the way the Japanese does their businesses massively differ from what we?re accustomed to in Thailand. This may be the result of the Japanese enriched traditional practices that were carried throughout generations and is reflected on their lives regardless of where they are in the world. The shops we visited during the day were ?The Loom? - a silk-weaving hobby house, ?Planeta Organica? - a Chiang Mai-based all-organic clothing & homemaking shop, a secondhand bookstore, and we ended the class with lunch at ?My Porch? The Loom, although not Japanese-owned, attracts a large number of Japanese housewives and kids due to the fact that The Loom offers a unique experience that is rare in Thailand;
