By Asst. Prof. Dr. Somboon Kulvisaechana

To bolster the symbiotic relationships between business schools around the world, international educators, executives and exchange program coordinators from different universities come to share experiences or exchange ideas on ways in which exchange activities are to be enhanced.  This year Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kritsadarat Wattanasuwan and Asst. Prof. Dr. Somboon Kulvisaechana (BBA Committee Member and Director of International Affairs, respectively) attend the annual conference of the Partnership in International Management (PIM) held in Bergen, Norway during Oct. 5-7, 2011.  PIM is an exclusive organization comprising of 58 leading business schools around the world, such as New York University, University of Chicago, McGill University, Copenhagen Business School, Tsinghua University and University of Melbourne.

Over three intensive days at the host institution ? Norwegian School of Economics and Business Administration (NHH), the conference evolve around several overarching issues, such as visions in business education in 2050, sustainability-driven business movements and cooperative competition business models, through the lens of academics and deans of business schools.  Moreover, the participants find themselves in a serious business of negotiating and discussing ways in which the exchange program can be enriched over years to come.  The Thammasat representatives hit it hard by promoting an internship program and an independent study scheme as free electives for incoming exchange students.  This initiative allows more flexibility and opens up ?unparalleled? opportunities for the exchange students to expose to both academic and corporate worlds in Thai context over just one period of stay.
