BBA 17 Business Orientation

By Suthida Rodsaward, BBA#17

During June 7-9, 2008 all freshmen took part in the BBA business game & team building orientation at Thammasat Learning Resort Pattaya.  It was a great opportunity for us not only to get to know one another a bit better but also to enhance our business learning in an integrated approach through a seemingly complicating business game simulation ? The Enterprise.

The very important lesson we finally educated ourselves was ?punctuality? which thereafter has been gradually ingrained in the BBA#17 culture.  Right from the first starting point where the bus departed, we waited for no one who showed up later than 7 am!  And there was a small fine as a penalty applied to those coming late to each session of the orientation.  We hit on the road for 2 hours to reach the venue with a full spirit and excitement.  Then, Dr. Edward Rubesch, a professor of marketing with degrees from MIT, walked us through a brief introduction to team-building activities mainly focusing on core values of teamwork that each activity aims to convey.  We headed out for the team building exercises which were more or less challenging, both mentally and physically.  Each station required different personal qualities and characteristics; some needed our dexterity and stamina; and some needed our creativity and initiative.  At the end of the day, we learnt so much about each other and treasured diversity that each of us from different walks of life brought into the BBA#17 family.  Winning or losing did not really matter to us afterall!
